Robert focuses on client counseling, patent prosecution, licensing and litigation. Robert was in-house counsel at Motorola Inc. and IBM Corp., and understands patents at a practical level. He is familiar with licensing and world-wide patent portfolio strategy. Robert has prepared and prosecuted several hundred U.S. and foreign patents with primary emphasis on wired and wireless telecommunications, computing architecture, network-layer protocols, semiconductors, manufacturing processes, power systems, object-oriented programming, and the Internet- and e-commerce- related inventions. Robert is also familiar with PCT practice, reexamination, and re-issue and national phase proceedings. Robert counsels clients on validity, enforceability and infringement of patents. He provides strategic advice on relevance, strength and value of patents to commercial markets. Robert analyzes the risks associated with enforcing or defending patent portfolios, negotiates licensing terms and manages patent licensing programs. Robert has also been involved in defensive and offensive aspects of complex patent litigation before the ITC and in the District Court level. He has taken and defended depositions, selected experts, and prepared fact and expert witnesses for testimony.
